Applied StemCell (ASC) can now offers you fresh and frozen human cord blood cells at an affordable price. The high-quality cord blood cells can be used to drive your regenerative medicine and other research forward. For fresh cells, we offer on-demand, customized sample collection and processing services. All our products are collected from IRB-approved donors that have been tested negative for Syphilis, Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV), HTLV-I/II, HIV-1, and HIV-2. ASC can deliver your cells the same-day as sample collection if you are located in the Bay Area. Overnight and worldwide shipping are also available. Human Cord Blood
Human cord blood can be collected from the umbilical cord and the placenta after a child is born. It is composed of red and white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Plasma is the liquid substance found in cord blood that holds water and proteins. Erythrocytes, red blood cells, contain hemoglobin and can transport oxygen throughout the body. Leukocytes, white blood cells, play an essential role in the immune system. Lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, basophils, and eosinophils are all types of white blood cells that work to protect the body from foreign invaders. Platelets, thrombocytes, work to stop or prevent bleeding. All these blood cells develop from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).
Cord blood carries hematopoietic stem cells that can generate all types of blood cells. HSCs divide and develop into lymphoid or myeloid progenitor cells. Lymphoid progenitor cells give rise to Natural Killer (NK) cells, T cells, B cells, and dendritic cells. Myeloid progenitor cells can develop into erythrocytes, platelets, mast cells, eosinophils, basophils, neutrophils, monocytes, dendritic cells, and more.
